Whole Foods Market is a foods supermarket chain based in Austin, Texas which emphasizes "natural" and organic products. It is classified as grocery store and health food store. Founded in 1980 as one small store in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market is now the worlds leading retailer of natural and organic foods. The company operates 302 stores: 291 stores in 38 US states and the District of Columbia; six stores in Canada; and five stores in the United Kingdom. The company offers a broad selection of perishable foods designed to appeal to both natural foods and gourmet shoppers. Most of its products are sourced from natural food vendors.
